it was pretty sweet to see a layer of mist lingering over the ground. The picture doesnt really do it justice, but it was about a foot and a half thick hovering about four or five feet
off the ground. sweet.
I packed up and headed north towards taylor falls which would be my crossing over point into Wisconsin, a state I had been in briefly when my dad was here but had otherwise never ventured into.
On my way there I passed this scenery I took a picture of for reasons forgotten to me. but here it is. a picture of some stuff.

I continued on and eventually came upon what I thought to myself to be either a junkyard, or a sculpture garden. It turned out to be the latter. I happened upon the Franconia Sculpture garden.
here are some photoszszsz$$

and thus, I continued vowing to return to franconia someday and experience it further. it was time for me to push on.
the view got very nice along the highway, on the way to taylor/st. croix falls even though as I was rolling I diddnt want to take too much of it in lest I become part of it.

after going down a huge hill, I got to taylor falls, mn. it was a quaint little town like i would be encountering many time during this trip. main street was a staggering ThREE blocks long.

I stopped in a bakery for morning coffee and a pistacio muffin. good stuffs. they had a nice owl collection

I headed into taylor falls to the visitors office intending on going up highway 35 north into duluth. At the center I discovered the Gandy Dancer Trail which runs parallel to hwy 35 so I decided to take that.
on the trail I ran into some retired school teachers who, every other week, got together and did day-long bike trips where two would volunteer to take the van, drop off the main ride at the starting point, and wait for them at the end point. we chatted for a while but I broke off at Lucky, Wisc. because I heard of it being a YO-YO twon. to my disappointment I discovered that the yo-yo factory had been closed for a number of years now but I did find a delightful natural foods co-op where i picked up some lovely trail mix and dried blueberries and pineapples and a bag of oranges.

this wasnt in lucky, but It amused me

i made it all 50-something miles to the end of the bike/walk-only section of the trail in dansbury where i could not take it the second half due to trail condiitons and my bike. It was time to camp. I followed signs for a while until i became doubtful of my direction and when i called my friend drew he informed me i had gone several miles in the opposite direction. oops. with nightfall approaching i made my way towards st croix state park. by the time I had gotten into the vicinity I was so tired I stopped at the first place I happened upon which was a "campground" but it mostly catered to people with campers. ergo, it was camper camping and not camping camping.

i dont want to sound like a snob or anything, but this is not camping.

camp. tonight will be a tent night.
this night i took the only shower i would take while on the road. most expensive shower i have probably ever taken/hope to ever take again.
